Free Outdoor Concert at Town Creek Park

The Auburn Knights Orchestra will headline the first performance of the May Sundown Concert Series at Town Creek Park on Thursday, May 6 beginning at 6 p.m. Join the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation Department every Thursday in May for live musical performances at Auburn’s newest park, located on South Gay Street. Citizens are encouraged to bring a blanket, chairs, and picnic and enjoy an evening of FREE musical entertainment. Additional parking for the concert is available at Wrights Mill Road Elementary School.

The Auburn Knights Orchestra is 19-piece jazz big band based out of Auburn, AL and is thought to be one of the oldest big band organizations in the world. Formed in 1930 at what was then known as Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API), now known as Auburn University, the band organized to play for dances and other musical events throughout the school year. During the summer months, band members took their show on tour, playing swing music at many clubs and beach resorts throughout the Southeast. Early band members had the opportunity to play alongside music legends such as Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, Tommy Dorsey, and Buddy Rich. Now celebrating its 80th year, the current band includes members from Auburn, Alexander City, and Columbus, GA. For more information on the Auburn Knights Orchestra, visit
