Forest Ecology Preserve Events & News

The Forest Ecology Preserve is a lovely piece of ground owned by Auburn University.  On it you will find miles of trails through the forest.  If you spend some time there you will find such things as a turtle pond with a little pier going out on the water, a deer blind, a "natural" playground for children, informative signs, and in the spring I have even tasted blackberries along the power-line trail.  At any rate, it is a wonderful spot to enjoy nature and I highly recommend going and checking it out.

The Preserve is located on North College on the right side of the road after you past the fisheries on the left heading toward 280.  You have to watch closely for the entrance, it is well marked, but you'll only see it once you are upon it.  I believe it is open every day from sunup to sunset.

Here is there most recent newsletter about what is going on at the preserve:

To find free kindle books go to the Kindle Store on Amazon.com and search for 0.00   This will pull up Kindle books that have a price of $0.00.  There is a pretty good selection of older out of copywrite works like:
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Pride and Prejudice
Treasure Island

And also some newer releases like:

Jobman Workwear Coupon Code

Jobman Workwear has some really nice work clothes.  The pants in particular that they offer are a cut above what you can find in the stores.  They have a ton of well placed pockets and options like reinforced knees or even kneepad pockets and special pads to go in to protect the knees.  With quality like that they also have a high pricetag, and since I'm all about being frugal I'm happy to pass on a coupon code to help with that.  Go to www.jobmanusa.com and if you use the coupon code jobmandfa1 when you are checking out it will take 20% off your entire order.  It will only work one time per account though, so be sure you have everything you want in your shopping cart before you place your order!

Baby Time - Teddy Bears

Don't Forget Tomorrow is Baby Time at the Public Library at 10am

This is a program for infants ages 6 to 18 months and their caregivers.  Meets every Tuesday at 10:00 am.

Say Goodbye to Frugal Auburn's Calendar

Speaking of Calendars, I will be taking down the calendar from FrugalAuburn.com.  I am not able to devote the time to maintain it, so down it goes.  In it's place I have put some links to other good resources on local happenings, and I will now be posting on this blog reminders and news of upcoming events.

Free Calendar

If you haven't already, don't forget to grab your free parks and rec calendar.  These are really nice attractive calendars featuring pictures from around Auburn.  They are also chocked full of reminders and dates pertinent to what's happening in Auburn.

You can find your free calendar at the local community centers.  They are also sometimes left out at the public library.  I personally just saw a large stack of them at Dean Road Rec today.
